| Income requirement | The 2026 minimum is DKK 446,000 annually. Only guaranteed liquid salary, qualifying labor-market pension contributions, and paid holiday allowance count; benefits such as a car, phone, canteen, housing or living expenses do not. Salary and employment conditions must meet Danish standards. The salary must be paid into the applicant's own Danish bank account, normally opened within 180 days.As of 2026-10-09Source 1Source 2 |

|---|
| Government fees | The published application fee is DKK 6,810. Verify SIRI's current fee and any exemptions before applying. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Processing time | SIRI lists normal processing of two months, up to five months if further information is needed. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Validity | Employment of five years or more normally yields a five-year permit. Shorter employment normally limits validity to the contract term. Passport expiry may shorten the permit. An applicant abroad may receive one month of pre-work residence if they declare support for that period, or 14 days otherwise. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Renewal | Apply for an extension before expiry if the employment contract is extended or work is to continue beyond the permit term. A timely application generally permits continued residence and work while SIRI decides. A new employer or position generally requires a new application, even within the same company. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Family inclusion | An eligible spouse, registered/cohabiting partner and children under 18 living at home may apply for accompanying-family residence. The principal applicant must also meet a scheme condition concerning repeat revocation of a family member's permit for work without a required permit. As of 2026-10-09Source 1Source 2 |
|---|
| Spouse work rights | An accompanying-family permit generally grants the spouse/partner the right to work in Denmark. A separate permit may be required to work for the sponsor's same or closely related company; the family member's permit letter controls. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Local-work rules | This route does not require a particular education or occupation. It requires a full-time job (normally 37–40 hours/week), posting on both Jobnet and EURES for at least two weeks and no more than six months before application, recent-fine eligibility, average seasonally adjusted gross unemployment no higher than 3.75% over the preceding three months, Danish-standard terms and no legal labor conflict. Work authorization is limited to the named job; even another position at the same employer needs a new permit. Sideline work requires separate permission and work is not authorized elsewhere in Schengen. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Application location | Create a case order ID, pay the fee and submit online using AR1 (worker and employer each complete part) or AR6 (employer applies under power of attorney). Include the job posting and fine declarations, employment contract, passport and relevant documents. Record biometrics within 14 days at a Danish mission/application centre abroad or SIRI if legally present in Denmark. Commuters applying only for work authorization follow a different fee and biometric process. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Permanent-residence pathway | This is a temporary work permit and does not itself grant permanent residence. A holder may later apply under Denmark's separate permanent-residence rules, generally after eight years or after four years in specified cases, subject to other requirements. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
|---|
| Citizenship pathway | The permit is not citizenship. Danish naturalisation is a separate process with permanent-residence, lawful-residence, self-sufficiency, language, knowledge and parliamentary approval requirements. As of 2026-10-09Source 1 |
