Chad e-Visa entry and extension in 2026
Chad's immigration authority states that all new ordinary visa applications have been submitted exclusively through evisa.td since 11 May 2026. After 21 May 2026, a visa issued outside that platform is invalid for entry, except diplomatic and courtesy visas handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The official notice links this system to Decree No. 2299/PR/PM/MSPI/2025 on admission and stay of foreigners and Joint Order No. 033/PR/PM/MFBEPCI/MSPI/2026 on visa categories and tariffs.
Processing times
The June circular states:
- standard e-Visa: 10 working days;
- express e-Visa: 72 hours;
- recommended minimum filing lead time: 7 days; and
- the circular describes a filing window before intended entry and notes that additional checks or high volume can extend processing.
The live portal should be checked at filing because online instructions can change.
Documents
The official portal lists passport material and, depending on the case, items such as flight evidence, accommodation, a legalized invitation, proof of funds/income, work contract, host-organization documents, company fiscal documents and professional evidence.
A document being requested by the e-Visa platform does not mean that every other legal permission attached to that activity has been granted. In particular, a work contract is not a substitute for Labour Code authorization.
Extension
The official June circular says extension is authorized only once for visas of 15 and 30 days. The portal directs a person whose e-Visa expires during the stay to the Direction of Emigration and Immigration for extension.
Do not assume every visa duration is extendable or that extension creates residence status.
Visa exemptions
The portal publishes a current list of exempt nationalities. Check the live list immediately before travel, because exemption status is nationality-specific and may change.
e-Visa is not a residence card
An e-Visa is entry/stay permission on its own terms. The official circular separately refers to residence-card fees, showing that residence documentation is a distinct legal layer.
Return to the Chad hub, see residence cards, foreign employment, Africa, our methodology, and the legal disclaimer.
