Foreign Expert B/1 Work Visa in Israel
Israel's B/1 foreign-expert work route is the principal skilled-worker pathway for employers seeking to bring a foreign specialist for a defined job.
Employer permit first
The Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) requires the Israeli employer to apply for a permit to employ the expert. New-expert applications require evidence such as the worker's résumé and diplomas, degrees or certificates showing education, qualifications, experience, reputation or expertise.
After the employment permit is approved, the employer completes the B/1 stay-and-work visa process. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that work-visa issuance abroad follows approval from the Population and Immigration Authority in Israel.
Employer and occupation linkage
A B/1 expert license is tied to the approved employer and approved field of work. It is not an open labor-market permit and it is not a generic self-employment or freelancer authorization.
PIBA's expert procedure also provides a normal maximum framework of up to 63 months from first entry on a B/1 work license, subject to the particular permit and extensions.
Digital nomads and freelancers
The Tier-1 materials reviewed for this January 2025 snapshot do not establish a dedicated open digital-nomad or freelancer visa. Remote or freelance work should not be assumed lawful merely because the client or employer is abroad.
