Philippines 13(g) returning former natural-born Filipino immigrant visa

The 13(g) route is for an applicant who:

  1. was previously a natural-born citizen of the Philippines;
  2. became a naturalized citizen of a foreign country; and
  3. intends to return to the Philippines for permanent residence.

This is a status-restoration/return route for a defined former-citizen group. It is not a general ancestry visa and should not be presented as available to anyone with Filipino family heritage.

Citizenship reacquisition is separate

The Bureau of Immigration also administers services under the Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act. Reacquiring Philippine citizenship and obtaining 13(g) immigrant status are different legal pathways; applicants should determine which route fits their facts.
