Bangladesh No Visa Required (NVR) in 2026
No Visa Required (NVR) is an endorsement placed in an eligible foreign passport. It is particularly important for Bangladesh-origin foreign citizens and qualifying family members because it removes the need to obtain a new Bangladesh visa for each trip while the endorsement/passport remains valid.
Who is eligible?
Current Washington mission guidance says:
- foreign citizens other than citizens of SAARC countries who are of Bangladeshi origin may be eligible;
- their spouse and children may also be eligible; and
- a foreign citizen with investment in Bangladesh worth USD 5 million may also be eligible when supported by a BIDA, BEPZA or BEZA document.
The investor rule belongs specifically to NVR eligibility. Do not confuse it with the ordinary PI investor-visa requirements.
Validity and stay
Washington's current official page says the NVR endorsement is valid as long as the passport on which it is affixed remains valid. It also says the holder may enter Bangladesh repeatedly and stay without a time restriction during that passport validity.
Passport replacement can therefore matter operationally: check the mission's current transfer/new-endorsement procedure when renewing the passport.
Typical evidence
Bangladesh-origin applicants normally need the foreign passport plus evidence establishing Bangladesh origin. Spouse/children need relationship evidence and the relevant origin documents of the Bangladesh-origin family member. Applicants applying from a country whose passport they do not hold may also need local residence evidence. Investor applicants need the supporting BIDA/BEPZA/BEZA document.

Fees are post-specific
Missions publish their own current NVR fee schedules. Washington, for example, currently publishes a revised NVR fee for its jurisdiction. Do not assume that dollar amount applies at another Bangladesh mission; use the post accepting your application.
NVR is not a work permit
The official NVR material gives powerful entry and stay privileges, but it should not be described as an automatic authorization to take employment. NVR is not permanent residence or citizenship
NVR is an endorsement in a foreign passport. Bangladesh's Ministry of Home Affairs separately deals with citizenship/dual citizenship and permanent-residence-rights certificates. Keep those legal concepts separate.
