Brunei Entrepreneur and Investor Long-Term Business Pass

Brunei's Immigration Department publishes a Long-Term Business Visit Pass for foreign company owners and investors who satisfy the eligibility criteria, including contribution to Brunei's socio-economic development.

This is the legitimate immigration category behind many searches for a “Brunei entrepreneur visa” or “Brunei investor visa”.

What Immigration actually publishes

The public Long Term Pass page identifies the category and target group but does not publish a universal minimum investment amount, guaranteed validity period, or automatic approval threshold.

Applicants are directed to the Long Term Pass Secretariat for application forms and detailed eligibility assessment. ReloTide therefore does not invent a capital figure.

Company incorporation is separate

Current ROCBN guidance says ordinary sole proprietorships and partnerships are limited to Brunei Citizens and Permanent Residents.

A company is a separate legal entity. For a company with two directors, at least one director must be ordinarily resident in Brunei; where there are more than two directors, the applicable resident-director requirement still matters. Official investment materials also recognise foreign ownership of locally incorporated companies in relevant contexts.

Company ownership does not itself grant the foreign shareholder/director permission to live or work in Brunei.

Is there a startup visa?

No standalone national “startup visa” appears on the current Immigration route list.

A foreign founder must separate:

  1. company registration and ownership;
  2. the company's business licences/obligations; and
  3. the founder's own immigration status.

For an eligible owner/investor, the Long-Term Business Visit Pass is the main official long-term business category.

Business Visit Visa is not a substitute

The Business Visit Visa is for business-related visits such as meetings, exhibitions, investor activity and exploring opportunities. Immigration expressly says it is not intended for working for the company or waiting for Labour quota/permission.

Permanent residence

The Long-Term Business Visit Pass is not published as an automatic path to permanent residence. Current PR eligibility is category-based.
