Temporary residence with authorization to work
DGME publishes Residencia Temporal con Autorización de Trabajar as a formal temporary-residence category.
The official work-residence guidance covers migrant workers, professional sports workers, academics and teachers, scientists and specialized personnel, executives and technical or administrative personnel transferred from abroad, and certain foreign personnel serving public-interest projects.
Local employment
A foreign national who performs remunerated activity without the required work permission can face an immigration infraction. Employment and immigration status should therefore be checked together.
Skilled and transferred personnel
El Salvador does not present a single points-based skilled-worker visa. Skilled workers and intra-company personnel instead fit within the work-authorized temporary-residence framework when their facts match the statutory category.
See the El Salvador hub, self-employed route, Latin America, work visas, methodology, and legal disclaimer.
