Eligible dependants of Mauritius Occupation Permit and Residence Permit holders can apply for residence permission linked to the main permit holder.
Duration follows the principal status
Passport and Immigration Office guidance states that dependants may receive a residence permit for a duration not exceeding that of the main holder.
Family eligibility varies by the principal route. EDB property guidance, for example, describes residence rights for qualifying family members of a property owner.
Work rights are separate
A dependant residence permit should not automatically be treated as unrestricted permission to work. The family member should verify whether separate work or occupation authorisation is required.
Mauritius also has separate rules for spouses of Mauritian citizens, which are not the same as dependant status under an expatriate permit.
