Investor Residence Visa in Qatar — January 2025 snapshot

Qatar's January 2025 government visa framework included an Investor Visa / investor residence route for qualifying expatriate investors.

Core distinction

The official government portal states that expatriates investing in selected business ventures may qualify for residence without ordinary employer sponsorship. The Ministry of Interior's residence-entry form separately identifies an "Investor" category alongside property owners and property beneficiaries.

Evidence and approval

The government portal identifies ownership/investment documentation, a good-conduct certificate and medical examination among the qualifying materials. Approval remains tied to the eligible investment and the competent authorities; company formation alone should not be presented as automatic residence.

Not the 2026 entrepreneur residency

Qatar launched a dedicated long-term Entrepreneur Residency program in February 2026. That later program did not form part of the January 2025 snapshot and is not backdated here.

For property-based investment, see Real-Estate Investor Residence. Founders establishing in special business centres should also compare QFZ and QFC.
