Viet Nam UĐ1 and UĐ2 preferential visas in 2026
From 1 July 2026, Viet Nam's immigration framework includes UĐ1 for foreign high-quality human resources in the digital-technology industry and other legally preferential cases, and UĐ2 for the spouse and children under 18 of a UĐ1 holder.
Duration ceilings
Current law permits UĐ1 and UĐ2 visas for up to five years and places both among the longest temporary-residence-card categories, with a statutory maximum of 10 years.
Those are legal ceilings, not guaranteed grant periods.
Not a general digital-nomad visa
UĐ1 should not be marketed as a generic remote-worker or digital-nomad visa. Remote work for a foreign client, by itself, is not the statutory test.
