Professional, Technician, Technologist or Artisan Residence in Ecuador in 2026

This temporary-residence category is for foreign nationals who intend to establish themselves in Ecuador to work as a professional, technician, technologist or artisan.

Qualification evidence

The official procedure requires the relevant professional, technical or technology qualification to be apostilled or legalized as applicable and registered with the competent Ecuadorian national authority. An artisan must provide the applicable registration of the activity in Ecuador and validation by the Junta Nacional de Defensa del Artesano.

That immigration requirement should not be confused with every occupation's substantive licensing rules. If a profession is regulated, the applicant must separately verify the authorization needed to lawfully practice it.

Immigration terms

The official page states a two-year validity. It requires the standard passport, criminal-record, lawful-means and fee items and says visa applications are handled through e-VISAS.
