Studies and Student Work in Montenegro in 2026
Foreign students may obtain temporary residence for qualifying secondary or higher education.
Under the current 2026 law, a student holding the qualifying residence permit may work in Montenegro for no more than 15 hours per week.
After studies, qualifying graduates may access a temporary period for seeking employment under the law. Time spent on temporary residence for secondary education or study is excluded from the ordinary five-year permanent-residence calculation.
