Peru Investor Residence in 2026

Peru's Investor residence category is for a foreign national who intends to establish, develop or administer one or more lawful investments under Peruvian law. It is an immigration route with a defined investment test, not an automatic benefit of incorporating a company.

Investment threshold

The current Migraciones initial application page refers to the minimum fixed by the immigration rules. The governing regulatory procedure sets that minimum at S/500,000.

The required investment must be evidenced as an international transfer made in a single disbursement through a financial or banking institution subject to the relevant Peruvian financial supervision. Applicants should verify the current regulation and live Migraciones procedure before moving funds because immigration thresholds and documentary rules can change.

New company or capital increase

Migraciones distinguishes between investment into a newly incorporated company and investment made through a capital increase in an existing business.

For a new company, the published procedure requests the public deed of incorporation within the stated recency period. For an investment through a capital increase, the procedure asks for the corresponding public deed and current business/tax evidence, including the applicable annual income-tax filing and municipal operating-license information.

The company or capital increase must also be properly registered. Corporate registration is evidence for the immigration case; it is not itself the immigration permission.

Initial application

Migraciones' current initial investor procedure says the applicant must be outside Peru to obtain the status and must provide passport and background evidence in addition to the investment/company documents.

On the official page last updated in January 2026, the published government fee is S/57.60 and the processing period is 30 business days. Confirm the live fee and payment code immediately before filing.

Work as an investor or company director

The Migration Law and implementing regulation contemplate the investor establishing, developing or administering the investment. The regulation also provides for qualifying income from acting as manager or director of the investor's company, subject to the labor and tax rules that apply.

That does not mean any founder can use Investor residence. Someone who does not meet the investor conditions needs another lawful immigration basis, which may include Worker Residence if their work relationship fits that category.

Residence and renewal

Investor residence is granted for 365 days under the Migration Law. Migraciones includes Investor among residence categories eligible for the residence-extension process. The 2026 general guidance describes a 365-day extension framework, filed before the existing residence expires.

Long-term settlement

Investor is one of the categories expressly named in Migraciones' general Permanent Residence procedure after three consecutive years of qualifying residence, subject to the route's absence and other conditions.

Investment, immigration, corporate tax, employment and beneficial-ownership obligations remain separate. See the Peru immigration hub, entrepreneur visas, methodology and legal disclaimer.
