Digital Nomad Residence in Slovenia in 2026
Slovenia introduced its temporary residence permit for digital nomads on 21 November 2025.
Who it is for
The route is for a non-EU/EEA foreign national who works remotely through information and communication technology for a business established outside Slovenia, performs work under a civil-law contract for a foreign business, or is self-employed abroad.
The defining rule is that the digital nomad is not entering the Slovenian labour market, so ordinary ESS labour-market consent is not required.
Income and duration
The applicant must show monthly means of at least twice the latest average monthly net salary in Slovenia.
The permit can be issued for up to 1 year and cannot be extended. A new digital-nomad application may be made 6 months after expiry of the previous permit.
A holder may apply during validity for another temporary-residence basis if they decide to take up a different qualifying activity in Slovenia.
Family
Current government guidance allows digital nomads to reunite with family members immediately, without the usual waiting restriction based on prior residence duration.
