Qualifying Investor Residence and Citizenship Distinctions in Türkiye in 2026

Research note: Official government and programme material checked 2026-09-23. Individual eligibility, the issued immigration document and currently applicable law govern; this is not personalized legal advice.

Türkiye's government publishes a special short-term residence pathway for qualifying, officially attested investment; this must be distinguished from an ordinary investor's company registration, local work permission, and any separate citizenship application.

Thresholds and government attestation

The official investor residence guide lists alternatives such as a qualifying USD 500,000 fixed-capital investment, an eligible USD 400,000 property purchase with a three-year resale restriction, or the creation of 50 jobs. Other qualifying deposit, securities and investment-fund instruments each have specific amounts, holding rules and competent government agencies. Some qualifying investors and their family may be considered for a special short-term permit of up to five years under the published framework.

Residence is not automatically work authorization or citizenship

A property transaction, government investment confirmation and citizenship-by-investment application are legally distinct. No intermediary can promise approval, eligibility of an arbitrary property or exemption from applicable source-of-funds checks. The Labour Ministry's owner rules still govern a foreign investor who will actively work in a Turkish company.
