Specialist and official visa codes in Viet Nam in 2026
Viet Nam's immigration law contains purpose-specific categories that are legitimate routes but are not general consumer migration products.
Main specialist groups
NG1–NG4 cover defined diplomatic and international-organization situations. LV1/LV2 cover work with specified Vietnamese state, political and related organizations. LS is for foreign lawyers practicing in Viet Nam. NN1–NN3 cover defined foreign representative offices, projects, branches, international organizations, NGOs and related personnel.
HN is for conferences and seminars. PV1/PV2 cover resident and short-term foreign press activity. SQ is a special short visa for limited statutory circumstances.
Duration ceilings
Current law caps SQ at 30 days, HN at 90 days, NG1–NG4/LV1/LV2/NN1–NN3/PV1/PV2 at one year, and LS at five years. Actual grants can be shorter.
Diplomatic categories excluded from ordinary e-Visa self-application follow the relevant Ministry of Foreign Affairs sponsorship channel.
