Cambodia Ordinary Type E Business Visa in 2026
Cambodia's Type E is the ordinary/business entry visa used by many people who intend to work, start a business, freelance, study, retire or otherwise remain beyond a short tourist stay.
The current official Cambodia e‑Visa portal lists Visa E at USD 35, single entry, with 3 months of validity from issuance and an initial 1-month stay. On 31 August 2026, the official e‑Visa service announced that Type E electronic visas are available to applicants from all countries.
Entry visa versus extension of stay
The initial Type E visa is not the same as an EB business extension. The visa gets the traveller into Cambodia for the authorized initial stay. Longer business/freelance stays use an in-country extension of stay where the applicant meets the relevant conditions.
The Council for the Development of Cambodia handbook describes the E-class visa as renewable after entry through Cambodian immigration and separates it from the later EB, ER and ES extension categories.
Read the EB business extension guide before assuming the entry visa alone authorizes a long-term stay.
Does Type E authorize work?
Do not treat a visa as a work permit. Cambodian labour law separately requires foreign workers to hold labour authorization. A person planning to work should review the foreign work permit guide.
Founders and investors
A founder may enter on the ordinary E framework while establishing a lawful business, but company registration, tax registration, investment registration and immigration status are separate. See business registration and investor setup.
A qualifying registered investment project can create additional rights to request temporary long-term stay under Cambodia's Law on Investment. See QIP investor long-term stay.
Remote workers
Cambodia does not currently publish a dedicated digital-nomad visa in the official sources reviewed. Remote workers and freelancers should not assume tourist status is a work route. Read remote worker and freelancer options.
