Family Reunification Residence in Chile in 2026
Chile's family-reunification temporary residence is for specified foreign relatives of a Chilean national or a foreign national holding Residencia Definitiva.
Qualifying relationships
SERMIG lists qualifying relationships including a spouse or equivalent recognized partner, parent, child under 18, child with a disability, an unmarried student child under 24, and certain minors under the applicant's care or guardianship.
The relationship must be proven with the civil-status or guardianship documentation applicable to the case, together with the general identity and background documents required by SERMIG.
Work rights
SERMIG states that a holder of temporary residence through family reunification may perform lawful remunerated activities, subject to the general labor restrictions that apply to minors.
Distinguish family reunification from dependent status
