Business and Self-Employment in Czechia in 2026
A Czech long-term visa for business is intended for third-country nationals who will conduct business activities, operate a licensed trade, work as self-employed persons, or serve in qualifying company statutory roles.
The business long-term visa can be issued for a maximum of 1 year.
A separate long-term residence permit for business can be issued for up to 2 years. Holders of a business-purpose long-term visa can move into that residence category. Holders of other long-term residence permits may face a five-year residence condition unless a statutory exception applies.
This route is not a blanket permission to ignore Czech licensing, trade-register, tax, social-security or company-law requirements. The immigration status and the legal right to carry out the intended business activity must both be valid.
