Digital Nomad Programme in Czechia in 2026
Czechia operates a government Digital Nomad Programme, but it is important not to market it as a standalone “digital nomad visa”.
The programme targets highly skilled IT and marketing professionals. It currently covers citizens of Australia, Brazil, India, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Taiwan.
Two main profiles are covered: remote employees of foreign employers who continue working for that foreign employer from Czechia, and freelancers who use the Czech business/trade route. Immediate family members can be included when they apply together under the programme framework.
For residence, a foreign remote employee generally applies for a long-term visa for other purposes, while a freelancer uses a business-purpose route. Programme inclusion does not create a legal entitlement to the visa or residence permit.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade states that programme participants' residence applications are intended to be processed within 45 days. The applicant also must not hold, and must not have held during the previous 1 year, a Czech long-term visa or long-term residence permit when seeking programme inclusion.
