Family Reunification in Czechia in 2026
Long-term residence for family reunification is intended for specified close family members of qualifying third-country residents.
The permit normally follows the validity of the sponsor's residence document, with statutory minimums and special rules depending on the sponsor's status. Eligibility conditions differ for spouses, children and other limited family categories.
A holder of long-term residence for family reunification has free access to the labour market and may work without an additional work permit.
Do not confuse this category with a long-term visa or residence permit merely for family purposes. Those routes do not automatically carry the same free labour-market access, and a family-purpose visa may require separate work authorization.
