Luxembourg provided a post-study residence permit for job search or business creation for eligible third-country graduates in the January 2025 framework.

Who could use it

The official page, last updated in 2023 with supporting forms updated in 2024, covered qualifying students who completed a Luxembourg higher-education diploma leading to a Master's degree or successfully defended a PhD thesis in Luxembourg.

The permit was valid for 12 months and allowed the graduate to look for qualifying employment or prepare a business. Before it expired, the graduate had to transition to the appropriate salaried-worker or self-employed authorisation. The eventual work or business had to relate to the graduate's academic education.
