North Macedonia uses a purpose-specific framework: entry visas, temporary residence, and work authorization or Employment Service Agency procedures are related but not interchangeable.

Digital nomads and remote workers

The Tier-1 official sources reviewed for this snapshot do not identify a dedicated digital-nomad or remote-work visa. The short-term-services mechanism is limited and should not be presented as an open remote-work residence route.

Freelancers, founders and entrepreneurs

There is no separate startup-founder visa identified in the reviewed Tier-1 sources. Foreign owners, co-owners and managers who work in a North Macedonian company use the employment/work/self-employment residence and work-permit framework. Company formation itself does not grant immigration status.

Investors

The reviewed official sources do not identify a general passive-investor or citizenship-by-investment visa. There is, however, a narrow temporary-residence basis for qualifying residents of EU/OECD member states who own eligible residential property worth at least EUR 40,000.

Skilled workers

Skilled professionals use the general work-purpose temporary-residence system. ESARM separately identifies employment, posted workers and seasonal workers within its eligibility-opinion functions; the sources reviewed here do not publish a separate generic "skilled worker visa."
