Self-Employment and Company Owner Residence in North Macedonia

North Macedonia does not identify a standalone startup-founder visa in the Tier-1 sources reviewed for the January 2025 snapshot. Foreign founders and owner-managers instead use the ordinary employment, work or self-employment residence/work-permit framework when they personally work in the country.

Official investor-support framework

Invest North Macedonia says its Aftercare Department assists foreign national owners, co-owners, managers and management members of domestic companies with dominant foreign capital with temporary residence and work-permit processes. It specifically refers to temporary residence for employment, work or self-employment.

Company formation is separate from immigration status

The government investment agency says foreign individuals and companies can establish North Macedonian business entities, including LLCs and sole proprietors. Company registration by itself does not grant residence or permission to work.

The agency lists EUR 5,000 as the minimum share capital for a standard LLC. That is a company-law capitalization rule, not an immigration-investment threshold and not a golden-visa requirement.
