Saudi Arabia immigration and residence options in 2026

Saudi Arabia currently combines a seven-product Premium Residency system with separate employer-led work-visa services and Ministry of Foreign Affairs visit visas. These categories solve different problems and should not be collapsed into a generic "Saudi visa."

Premium Residency: seven distinct products

The National Platform lists seven Premium Residency options: Exceptional Competence Residency, Talent Residency, Business Investor Residency, Entrepreneur Residency, Real Estate Owner Residency, Unlimited Duration Premium Residency, and Limited Duration Premium Residency.

Start with the Premium Residency overview, then move to the product matching the applicant's real profile. Investors, founders, property owners, exceptional professionals and gifted cultural/sporting talent face different evidence and threshold rules.

Investors and founders

The current Investor Residency criteria include a SAR 7 million qualifying investment/share framework and 10-employee safeguard. The Entrepreneur Residency instead has two venture-oriented categories with different approved-funding, ownership and job-creation requirements.

These routes do not mean that company incorporation alone produces residence status. Investment licensing, corporate formation, labor compliance and immigration approval remain separate.

Property, exceptional competence and gifted talent

Real Estate Owner Residency currently uses a SAR 4 million qualifying residential-property threshold and separate completed/off-plan rules.

Exceptional Competence Residency has track-specific criteria for researchers, health/science professionals and executives. Gifted Residency uses cultural, artistic and sporting talent criteria with competent-authority involvement.

Limited and unlimited Premium Residency

The Limited and Unlimited Premium Residency products currently publish different durations and fees. The limited product runs for one to five years at the published annual fee; the unlimited product is the permanent-duration Premium Residency option.

Employment and business travel

Saudi Arabia's Permanent Work Visa is the official work-visa service for workers with long-term Saudi employment contracts. Despite its name, it is not permanent residence. Temporary Work Visa covers short-term employment contracts.

A Business Visit Visa is a separate visit category for qualifying business relationships. It should not be substituted for an employment or residence category when the planned activity is actual Saudi employment.

No invented digital-nomad or freelancer route
