Sweden EU Blue Card in 2026
The Swedish EU Blue Card is a residence and work permit for highly qualified employment and is separate from the ordinary work-permit route.
The applicant must normally have higher education corresponding to at least 180 higher-education credits or at least five years of relevant professional experience. The signed highly qualified employment contract must last at least six months.
The salary must be at least 1.25 times the average Swedish gross salary used for the Blue Card threshold. Since 15 July 2026, the current threshold is SEK 53,625 per month.
Employment conditions must meet Swedish collective-agreement or common-practice standards. The Blue Card can be granted for up to four years, subject to the employment period and passport validity.
