Graduate Job Search and Starting a Business in Hungary in 2026
Hungary has a post-study/post-research residence permit for seeking a job or starting a business.
Eligibility
It is available to qualifying holders of a valid residence permit for studies who successfully completed their studies, and to qualifying researchers who completed their research, where the intended job or business matches the level of the studies or research.
Duration
The permit is valid for a maximum of 9 months and cannot be extended.
Next status
During its validity, an eligible holder may apply in Hungary for a Hungarian Card, EU Blue Card or guest self-employment residence permit.
This is a transition route rather than an indefinite job-seeker visa. Applicants should plan the next qualifying status before the nine-month period expires.
