Hungarian Card in Hungary in 2026
The Hungarian Card is a high-skill residence and work category for specified professional profiles.
Who can qualify
Current OIF guidance limits the route to applicants who meet one of the listed professional bases, including holders of specified higher professional qualifications, professional athletes or coaches, performers, and certain film-industry workers.
For qualified employment cases, the application generally relies on a preliminary agreement or employment contract and evidence of the professional qualification required for the role.
Validity
The Hungarian Card can be issued for up to 3 years and may be extended for 3 years.
The Hungarian Card is distinct from the National Card and the EU Blue Card. Applicants should not assume that having a university degree automatically makes every job eligible for a Hungarian Card; the qualification/occupation rules matter.
