Studies and Student Work in Hungary in 2026
Third-country nationals admitted to qualifying Hungarian studies can use the residence permit for the purpose of studies.
Student work
Current OIF guidance allows a study-permit holder to work for a maximum of 30 hours per week during the study period.
Outside the study period, the student may work full-time for a maximum of 90 days in a year.
After graduation
A study permit holder who successfully completes studies and whose intended job or business matches the level of those studies may apply in Hungary for the residence permit for seeking a job or starting a business.
Study status itself does not qualify the holder for a national residence card under the current OIF rules, so settlement planning should distinguish study time from the eligibility rules of long-term residence categories.
