Graduate Job Search and Self-Employment in Lithuania in 2026
Lithuanian graduates can use a post-study residence framework after completing qualifying studies.
Migration Department guidance states that a graduate holding the relevant temporary residence permit may look for a job, start working, or engage in self-employed activity.
The 2026 reforms also exempt certain recent Lithuanian graduates from the annual employment quota when they intend to work within 5 years after completing qualifying studies or education.
This transition status is not a permanent business or settlement permit. The next residence basis still needs to match the actual job or self-employed activity.
