Remote Work and Digital Nomad Options in Lithuania in 2026
Lithuania does not currently publish a dedicated national digital-nomad residence permit comparable with dedicated nomad schemes in some other European countries.
Remote work still needs a lawful basis
A third-country national who lives in Lithuania while working remotely must separately establish a lawful right to reside and, where the activity falls within Lithuanian work rules, a lawful right to work.
Since July 2024 Lithuania has tightened the rule that work normally requires a Lithuanian temporary residence permit, subject to listed statutory exceptions.
E-residency is not immigration residence
Lithuanian e-residency or remote company administration should not be described as a visa, residence permit or right to live in Lithuania.
A remote founder may instead fit the Startup Visa or another genuine business, employment or family basis depending on the facts.
