Startup Visa for Founders in Lithuania in 2026

Startup Visa Lithuania is the principal founder-focused immigration pathway for innovative non-EU entrepreneurs.

Innovation assessment first

The founder first needs the Innovation Agency / Startup Lithuania assessment confirming that the proposed activity qualifies under the startup framework and that the founder's participation is necessary.

Startup Lithuania explains that the scheme removes some of the capital and employment requirements that apply to ordinary business migration, but it does not remove the need to apply for a Lithuanian temporary residence permit.

Founder limits and permit period

Official Migration Department guidance states that no more than 4 startup participants may use the founder basis for the same startup.

The startup temporary residence permit is issued for 2 years and can be extended for 3 years.

The Startup Visa founder route is different from the “Startup Employee Visa” procedure for highly qualified employees hired by eligible Lithuanian startups.
