Temporary Residence for Study in Uruguay in 2026
Students can use Uruguay's general temporary-residence framework when their course and intended stay fall within the temporary category.
Study evidence
The current DNM page requires proof of student status from the educational institution and evidence of sufficient means of support. If the student does not have independent means, qualifying family support or documented funds received from abroad can be used under the published rules.
The same temporary-residence process also includes identity, criminal-record, vaccination and health documentation.
Student residence should not be described as permanent residence or as an automatic route to citizenship. A later permanent-residence decision is a separate immigration step.
