Temporary Residence for Work in Uruguay in 2026
Uruguay's general temporary residence covers foreign nationals who will live in the country for an activity generally lasting more than 180 days and up to two years.
Worker evidence
For workers, the current DNM page asks for an employer letter describing the activity, contract period and monthly remuneration or maintenance arrangement, together with company evidence or BPS employment history. The page states that remuneration or means of support must be at least the national minimum wage.
Temporary residence also requires identity, criminal-record and health/vaccination evidence under the current rules.
This is not a separate employer-sponsored visa system comparable to countries that issue a standalone work visa. It is a residence category supported by the actual work activity.
