Denmark immigration and residence options in 2026
Denmark uses separate residence-and-work schemes for third-country nationals. A residence and work permit, short-stay visa, CPR registration, tax residence and permanent residence are different legal concepts.

The Pay Limit Scheme uses DKK 552,000 annually in 2026. The separate Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme uses DKK 446,000 and adds extra conditions.
The Positive Lists effective 1 July 2026 contain 164 higher-education job titles and 63 skilled-work job titles. Fast Track is limited to SIRI-certified employers.
Start-up Denmark requires expert-panel approval before the SIRI application. State-approved higher-education students generally use the DKK 7,426 monthly self-support rate and may work 90 hours per month September-May, full time June-August.
National spouse reunification commonly involves the 24-year rule, 4 out of 6 integration conditions, and DKK 61,709.34 collateral at 2026 level, subject to exceptions. National permanent residence normally uses an 8-year rule; a 4-year route requires all four supplementary requirements.
Denmark does not publish a dedicated digital-nomad residence scheme.
